Sunday Group

Sunday Group meets in the Church Hall and caters for children from approximately 4 to 11 years. They join the procession at the beginning of the 10 am service, during the processional hymn, and follow the young people’s cross to join the leaders and go over to the hall.

The general format of a Sunday Group session comprises a time of welcome and worship, followed by an introduction of the theme for the week, which is then developed through teaching and activities in age-related groups (4-7 and 7-11). Activities may include games, drama, story-telling, micro-gardening such as sowing seeds, and creative activities.

On their return to church, in time for the Communion, they join their parents or carers and normally receive the bread and wine, or a blessing, with their own family. Towards the end of the service, children delight in the opportunity to show their pictures and creative work to the whole congregation - and the older ones quickly press their ‘recall’ button in case they should be called upon.

Sunday Group meets every Sunday except the first Sunday of each month, when everyone stays in church throughout the service for Family Communion.
